As an Application Infrastructure Engineer, you will become the primary technical resource for Ansys Granta MI, supporting its implementation and transition into production before taking ownership of its day-to-day technical operation. Working on Windows Server environments hosted in AWS, you will combine infrastructure engineering, application administration, and technical support to keep the platform stable, secure, and well-managed. Working in close collaboration with a dedicated Business Analyst, business stakeholders, architects, and vendors, you will ensure users receive effective, hands-on support.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Take technical ownership of the Ansys Granta MI platform and its supporting infrastructure.
- Administer and maintain Windows Server environments running in AWS EC2.
- Support infrastructure architecture, system configuration, and platform design decisions.
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain application environments across development, test, and production.
- Collaborate with architects, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure the solution meets business and technical requirements.
- Monitor system health, availability, performance, and capacity.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application, infrastructure, and integration issues.
- Provide L2 and L3 support for platform users and business stakeholders.
- Support SQL Server environments and application databases.
- Administer IIS and supporting web services.
- Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and support guides.
- Participate in incident, problem, change, and release management activities.
- Contribute to backup, recovery, security, and business continuity processes.
- Identify opportunities to automate operational activities and improve support processes.
- Support the continued development and adoption of the platform across the organisation.
Key Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, application administration, or platform support roles.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Windows Server administration.
- Hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure, particularly EC2-based environments.
- Experience supporting enterprise applications in production environments.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration and troubleshooting.
- Experience with IIS administration and web application hosting.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure, application, and integration layers.
- Experience providing L2/L3 support for business-critical systems.
- Experience with system implementation, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and business discussions.
Special Requirements for the Role
- Be a self-starter, problem solver, have a positive attitude, and have great attention to detail.
- Comfortable operating independently in environments without a large support organisation.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Experience with Ansys Granta MI is preferred but not required.
- Experience supporting engineering, product development, materials management, or R&D applications.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Candidates without direct Ansys Granta MI experience are welcome to apply if they have strong Windows Server, AWS, application administration, and support experience, together with a willingness to learn and develop expertise on the platform.
