Data Engineer

Travelopia is headquartered in the UK and is one of the world’s leading specialist travel groups providing customers with unique travel experiences. This includes adventure travel, safaris, private jet, and polar expeditions, tailor-made luxury holidays, yacht and riverboat charter holidays, educational and sporting-based school trips, corporate hospitality, and sporting event fan travel.

Travelopia, IT team is looking for a Data Engineer who can deliver high-quality data products and platforms to normalize, model, and leverage the wide range of customer, destination, and product data across our many brands. As a member of the Data Integration squad, you will be creating, operating, and optimizing our integration platform services and contributing to our data product roadmap and overall technology strategy.

We are a team of multicultural technologists working out of Bangalore and London. We have fully embraced remote work and believe in a product-driven, iterative approach to development with regular rituals.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Should be able to design, implement, test, and maintain services that connect our multiple source systems (CRM, Reservations, Finance, Analytics, and Others) to and from our common data platforms, as well as from those platforms to business-facing capabilities. 
• Production and build ETL/ELT pipelines 
• Comfortable working within a fast-paced, highly integrated engineering environment, referencing a wide spread of products and technologies old and new.
• Should work with ingress and egress data flows. Identify enhancements and improvements to existing integrations through performance metrics, customer requirements, industry standards, and strategic fit.
•  Implementing measures to ensure data confidentiality, integrity, and accessibility. 
• Encourage service-oriented design patterns and modular development of all our brands
• Leads and manages the technical delivery team, ensuring quality and timeliness in delivery as well as guiding the team through technical issues and challenges.
• Consult with brand and project teams to identify new integration requirements to enable internal and customer-facing products.

SKILLS / COMPETENCIES:

• 3+ years in professional software development/engineering.
• Strong experience in working with Python, NodeJS, AWS Services (EC2,S3,EBS,ELB, Route53  Lambda, API Gateway, etc.) 
• Strong experience with any RDBMS is mandatory  (PostgreSQL/MySQL,/ MS SQL)
• Should have strong knowledge of SDLC 
• Knowledge of maintaining infrastructure with AWS services and cloud formation is highly good to have
• Knowledge of AWS Redshift/GCP Big Query/Oracle DW products & CI/CD Pipeline is a plus
• Experience working with customer and behavioral datasets, and a working knowledge of common CRM and sales patterns. 
• Creating robust, secure, and performant environments for data to flow through Travelopia
• Experience in Event-Based Systems is a plus
