As a People Ops Manager, you will manage HR processes, supporting onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and other HR functions. This role is key to maintaining a high-performing engineering team by ensuring smooth HR operations in a technical environment. Strong organizational skills and a passion for people are essential.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Onboarding:
- Coordinate the onboarding process for new engineering hires which includes:
- Providing new hires with relevant information on company culture, policies, and procedures;
- Supporting new employees in getting acclimated with the team and their technical environment;
- Ensuring necessary IT and equipment setups are in place for smooth integration.
- Employee Relations:
- Serve as a point of contact for our engineers regarding HR policies, procedures, and workplace concerns.
- Facilitate conflict resolution and mediate any employee relations issues, escalating to senior HR or management as needed.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive employee matters.
- Performance Management:
- Assist in the performance appraisal process, ensuring that functional leads and engineers receive the necessary support and training to evaluate performance effectively.
- Help coordinate regular check-ins and feedback sessions between employees and functional leads.
- Ensure that employees have the resources they need to succeed in their roles and grow professionally.
- Employee Engagement & Retention:
- Help implement strategies to foster employee engagement, such as team-building activities, recognition programs, and professional development initiatives.
- Conduct exit interviews and analyze feedback to provide recommendations for improving employee retention.
- HR Administration & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records for all employees, including new hires, terminations, and change in status.
- Prepare HR reports and share with HR at headquarters in Chicago as needed.
- Ensure compliance with local labor laws, workplace safety regulations, and internal HR policies.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven HR personnel with 5 years of overall experience, with at least 3 years in an HRBP role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Prior experience in working with engineering or technical teams.
- Familiarity with HR software (Keka) is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Experience working with offshore teams.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
