QA Engineer

Alpha Insurance Solutions is now expanding its digital footprint through a unified suite of Our Partner applications, including Quotesurance (insurance quote estimation), Compsurance (workers'

compensation quote estimation), and future automation tools. Our Partner was founded with a singular vision: to transform the insurance industry through technology and innovation. 

Our Partner is looking for a mid-level QA Engineer to own quality for Quotesurance, our insurance quoting platform. This is a hands-on role covering both manual testing and test automation, ideal for someone who wants to build a QA function from the ground up in a startup environment.

Roles And Responsibilities:

• Own end-to-end QA for Quotesurance across web and API layers
• Design and execute manual test plans for new features and releases
• Build and maintain automated test suites (UI, API, regression)
• Identify, document, and track bugs through resolution
• Test integrations with third-party vendors and carrier systems
• Define QA processes, standards, and workflows from scratch
• Collaborate directly with engineering and product on release readiness
• Participate in sprint planning and provide QA effort estimates
• Set up and maintain CI/CD test pipelines with the engineering team

Key Requirements:

• 3+ years of prior experience in QA with both manual and automation testing
• Prior experience building test automation frameworks (Playwright, Cypress, or similar) 
• Solid understanding of API testing (Postman, REST Assured, or similar)
• Prior experience with bug tracking and test management tools (Jira preferred)
• Comfortable working independently and owning QA end-to-end
• Working knowledge of TypeScript/JavaScript is mandatory
• Prior experience with BDD frameworks (Cucumber/Gherkin or similar) 
• Comfortable writing SQL queries for database/data-integrity testing
• Basic familiarity with AWS or another cloud provider, and CI/CD pipelines
• Startup mindset: adaptable, self-directed, comfortable with ambiguity
• Strong written communication for documenting test cases and bugs
• Exposure to testing AI/LLM-powered features, or performance/load testing, is a plus but not required
• Insurance or fintech industry experience is a plus, not required
• Excellent communication skills and a go-getter attitude.
