Senior Backend Developer

As a Senior Backend Developer, you will work alongside other talented engineers and be a core contributor to solve some of the most pressing technology challenges. You will be a role model and mentor to your immediate engineering team, helping to raise the capability of individuals early in their career and improve productivity You will also be working cross-team to help push for best practices within your domain across the engineering organization. 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with the product team to help design, architect, and implement new, as well as improve, existing features of our spend management platform 
• Collaborate with other software engineers to establish best practices, tools, and processes that will drive the entire engineering team forward 
• Work with engineering leadership to execute effective agile practices and drive continuous delivery 
• Directly mentor one or more engineers through code review, pair programming, and one on ones 
• Mentor, learn, and continuously improve yourself and your teammates technical skills by seeking out the latest technologies and engineering practices

SKILLS / COMPETENCIES

• Strong experience in developing scalable software solutions with a team of software developers using Python 
• Should have experience in developing RESTful APIs 
• Expert in developing applications using Python Frameworks like Django/ Flask/ Pyramid
• Experience in deploying applications on AWS/ Azure/ Google cloud platform and exposure to docker containers
• Strong experience working with MySQL database and exposure to DynamoDB is a plus
• Experience in agile and software development practices such as scrum/kanban, CI/CD, test automation, infrastructure as code
• Exposure to unit testing is an added advantage
• Practice delivering written and verbal technical feedback in the form of code reviews to peers
• Believe in the strength of empowerment, continuous improvement, and learning 
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment focusing on multiple competing priorities and solving challenging problems 
• Should be able to work on existing solutions while constantly improving and maintaining it. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE

• 5+ years experience in software development 
• Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Experience with enterprise-scale systems is a major plus.
• Mandatory experience working in an Agile environment (SCRUM certification a major plus)
