As a Senior BI Specialist, you will be responsible for engaging with senior executives, gathering user requirements, and designing efficient Tableau visualizations and reports. The role involves collaborating closely with data engineers to ensure that the necessary data structures are in place.
Responsibilities:
- User Requirement Gathering: Collaborate with senior executives to gather user requirements for Tableau reports, then create report/dashboard mock-ups based on their feedback.
- Report Design & Development: Create visually appealing and efficient Tableau dashboards to display data. Build Tableau reports for both production and non-production environments. Document approved prototypes and update schedules in Confluence.
- Data Collaboration: Define the data needed for reporting and work closely with data engineers (using Teradata, Databricks, AWS S3) to ensure the right data is available. Oversee the data engineers responsible for delivering these data structures.
- Project Management: Manage each report request from start to finish, ensuring clear scope, timelines, and impact communication with stakeholders. Oversee project timelines and ensure on-time delivery of Tableau reports.
- Quality Assurance & Monitoring: Set up automated quality monitoring for report launches and use insights from reporting issues to improve future reports.
- Tableau Administration: Help with managing Tableau user access and roles. Support Tableau backend API and optimize services as needed.
Key Requirements:
- 5+ years’ of experience in business intelligence, specifically in designing and developing Tableau reports and dashboards.
- 3+ years of experience using BI Tools like Tableau.
- Demonstrated ability to manage the full reporting project lifecycle, from requirement gathering to final delivery.
- Strong understanding of backend data structures, with experience collaborating with data engineers (Teradata, Databricks, AWS S3 parquet/CSV).
- Proven experience in engaging with senior executives to extract and define reporting requirements.
- Experience using Confluence for tracking documentation.
- Knowledge of (SDLC) methodologies (Agile methodology experience preferable).
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment.
Good to Have:
- Knowledge of Python or R to support advanced BI analytics and data modeling.
- Familiarity with Spark-based activities (Databricks) for enhanced data processing.
- Experience with Tableau backend API and service optimization is a plus.
