Senior Linux Systems Engineer

The Senior Linux Systems Engineer will report to the Head Of Platform and will be responsible for Linux Systems Administration, being the initial contact for Linux server issues and will be expected to deal with different levels of seniority from Developers to Senior Traders.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Architect, develop and maintain internal Linux infrastructure across on-prem, Azure and AWS.
• Be the primary contact for Linux systems issues, building servers using your own choice of tools such as BMaaS / Chef / Ansible.
• Manage our on-prem servers across multiple datacenters, including BIOS tunings & ILO configurations, OS installation & upgrade, host configurations via our configuration management system, additional setup/configurations not yet scripted, etc.
• Report problems to telco and service providers, provide regular updates to the team, and coordinate/work with team members to resolve issues.
• Develop scripts in bash to automate systems tasks and/or deliver this via config management.
• Decide and develop our on-prem monitoring. Datadog is used for Cloud currently.
• Participate in an on-call rota with 1 other engineer, the expected call-out rate is very low though, around 1 call / month.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years in Linux systems engineering with Ubuntu.
• 3+ years of experience in Bash scripting.
• Strong experience in an on-prem environment - AWS and Azure.
• Hands-on networking working experience with Cisco. 
• Working experience with Blade is desirable. 
• Knowledge of enterprise storage (DAS, NAS, SAN, etc) is desirable
• Working experience in the hedge funds environment is desirable.
• Self-motivated individual who possesses excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal skills in the English language.
