Technical Lead

Alpha Insurance Solutions is expanding its digital footprint through a unified suite of Our Partner applications, including Quotesurance (insurance quote estimation), Compsurance (workers' compensation quote estimation), and future automation tools. Our Partner was founded with a singular vision: to transform the insurance industry through technology and innovation. 

As a Technical Lead, you will lead backend architecture and development for the Compsurance MVP, forming the foundation of a scalable InsurTech ecosystem that includes Quotesurance, Compsurance, and Alpha Automation. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for defining best practices, mentoring the team, and owning all API and infrastructure components.

Roles And Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend APIs and microservices using Python (FastAPI).
• Define and enforce architecture standards for scalability, security, and compliance (GLBA, SOC 2 ready).
• Build and manage data pipelines that integrate external APIs (Briza, NCCI, carriers, and CRMs).
• Lead code reviews, DevOps collaboration, and deployment pipelines (AWS EKS / Aurora / S3 / SES).
• Implement authentication, RBAC, logging, and monitoring controls.
• Mentor junior developers and collaborate closely with frontend and DevOps engineers.
• Document architecture, APIs, and integration flows in GitHub and Postman.

Key Requirements:

• 8+ years of experience working as a full-stack developer
• 5+ years of experience in Python and 3+ years of experience in ReactJs 
• 3+ years of experience in AWS (Aurora PostgreSQL, EKS / ECS, S3, SES, CloudFront) 
• Expertise in FastAPI (or Flask / Django REST), SQLAlchemy, and async programming
• Experience with hybrid app development or native iOS & Android experience is a plus
• Expertise with REST API design, integration patterns, and microservice architecture 
• Prior Familiarity with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform / CloudFormation) is mandatory
• Prior familiarity with security standards and data privacy is mandatory (preferably SOC 2, GLBA, NAIC Model #668)
• Ability to work directly with non-technical stakeholders and convert requirements into technical deliverables.
• Prior experience in the Insurance or Financial services domain is desirable
• Prior Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is desirable
• Familiarity with data analytics and reporting frameworks is desirable
• Strong communication skills and remote-team leadership experience
